This piece was a submission for the cover page of a high impact journal in neuroscience. It depicts the disruption of the PVT to NAc circuit following chronic opioid use, a circuit responsible for behavioral inhibition. The adaptations occuring within this circuit have been found to lead to disinhibition of behaviors, the inability to appropriately decipher risk and reward, leading to chronic drug use and relapse.
